Attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) for medical school.  I did my pediatric residency at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, where I served as chief resident. I am a pediatrician and owner of Best Start Pediatrics, which has locations in Johnson and East Fayetteville.

23 years in faculty and clinical practice at UAMS and seven years in private practice in Little Rock. Now retired.

Martha Sharkey, MD, FAAP
CDC Physician Consultant

Dr. Sharkey received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University, completed her pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins, and has practiced pediatric medicine for over 25 years. She studied public health at Emory University, and since the pandemic, she has focused on the public health needs in NWA and currently works for the Centers for Disease Control.
