Greetings in the name of Immanuel—God with us!
What a joy it was to spend Thanksgiving week serving at the Senior Living Center, worshiping with multiple churches — over 15 professions of faith, and reconnecting with our friends at Iglesia Metodista en Cuba! Our time with the community truly warmed our hearts.
For over a decade, Central UMC has shared a meaningful and enduring partnership with the Iglesia Metodista en Cuba. Over the years, we’ve worked together with the seminary—now offering rotating cohorts of around 30 pastors per term as the church continues to grow—the Senior Living Center, which provides care for those 65 and older while engaging with the local community, and various churches whose ministries have flourished through our collaboration.
After speaking with Bishop Ricardo Pereira, I am especially grateful for Central’s long-term relationship with the church in Cuba, allowing us to engage in service side by side with our friends. We look forward to returning in spring 2026, with more details to come about how you can support and participate in this relationship.
In the meantime, please keep our friends in Cuba in your prayers, asking that God continues to bless their people and communities!
