2018 Summer Adult Classes

Epic of Eden: Ruth
Wednesday afternoons | 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. | May 9 – June 13
Cost: $17
Set in the midst of one of the most corrupt eras of Israelite history, Ruth is the story of three compelling characters: Naomi, an elderly Jewish widow, Ruth the foreign daughter-in-law, and Boaz, the local patriarch. Participants will see themselves in these characters and find themselves faced with many of the same questions and challenges. This is real life, lived out by real people with real fears, real struggles, real hope, and real faith. Lesson booklets and videos by Dr. Sandra Richter enhance the teaching. Facilitator: Susan Williams.

The Quest
Monday mornings | 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. | June 4 – July 16
Cost: $17
One of Beth Moore’s newest studies, “The Quest” is a cross between a curriculum and a journal, between a classroom and a prayer closet. Its three primary objectives are: 1) to promote deeper intimacy with God, 2) to help foster a sojourner mentality (we are only passing through this present world), and 3) to foster an adventurer mentality of royal subjects headed to an unshakable kingdom worth the arduous trip. Facilitator: Ginny Kobe

Epic of Eden: Isaiah
Tuesday mornings | 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. | June 5 – August 7 | Wesley 310
Cost: $20
This Bible study and video series by Dr. Sandra Richter takes participants back to the 8 century BCE to put the religion of Israel in context. She explores the definition and role of prophets and encourages application of the prophet Isaiah’s message. Often referred to as the “fifth gospel,” Isaiah has much to say about both Israel’s coming Messiah and the need for God’s people to either step up or stand down. Facilitator: Laura Underwood.
