The Gathering is a group of women devoted to the study of God’s Word and to prayer, as modeled in Acts 16:13. We seek to understand scripture and its application to our lives, while offering encouragement to each other. Our goal is to become the women God desires us to be.
More About the Gathering
The Gathering started in the fall of 2010 out of a desire to offer a daytime Bible Study for women at Central. Our vision was for women to come together weekly to study God's Word and apply it to our lives, while at the same time creating a supportive community through this regular time of study, fellowship, and prayer. Our ultimate desire is for each of us to grow into the women God has created us to be.
In The Gathering, we enjoy studies by various Christian authors. Some of our studies are accompanied by DVDs, some are not. We spend part of the morning in small groups, discussing our lessons and sharing prayer requests, then we gather together in the chapel for a brief worship time and either a DVD session by the author or a short teaching time by one of our own members. We generally have a fall semester, a winter/spring semester, and a summer semester, and we change small groups with each study. We meet on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the second floor of the Student Ministries Building. Childcare is available upon request.
The Gathering is led by a vision team made up of three women who meet regularly to prayerfully oversee the operation of the ministry and plan for its future. The members of the Vision Team and the women who serve as small group leaders make up The Gathering's Leadership Team. Many other women are involved in serving on our Support Ministry Teams: Hospitality, Mission, and Music.
A woman may join The Gathering at any time in the semester - we always have room for one more!
