The Book of Romans
Sundays | 6 p.m. | Wesley Chapel | Beginning September 10
Cost: $15
On the evening of May 24, 1738 someone was reading Rev. Martin Luther’s Preface to Romans when John Wesley, the father of Methodism, had his heartwarming experience at a Bible study on Aldersgate Street in London, England.  Paul’s letter to the Romans is considered to be his greatest written work. Through the participant guide and presentations of Dr. Ben Witherington III and the facilitation of Dr. Steve Pulliam, participants will not only grow in knowledge and faith, but will also grow toward holy love as Christ is revealed through deeper understanding. This twelve-week Bible study will meet on Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. in Wesley 310 beginning September 10.

The Apprentice Series
Wednesdays | 6 p.m. | Beginning September 6
Cost: $45
Too often Christians may experience a changed mind about God, or even a changed heart toward God, without having a changed life with God. Where is the breakdown between belief and discipleship? Why isn’t the transformative power of the gospel more apparent in the daily workings of our lives? This series encourages you to read, journal, pray, discuss and participate in weekly spiritual exercises to help you engage with the text. As you work through the material and share with your group you’ll discover your heart being shaped by the truth of Christ –and your life being changed. If you are seeking the transformation that comes from knowing the real God, the Apprentice series offers no simple formulas or secret paths of knowledge. It does, however, offer the chance to be with Jesus and discover the narratives that he lived by. Get to know the God Jesus knew and the Kingdom he proclaimed. The transformation you seek will come as a direct result of spending focused time with him and his people. This group, led by Gary Thorn and Rev. Greg Gibson, meets weekly for 28 weeks beginning on Wednesday September 6 at 6:00 p.m.

Epic of Eden: Isaiah
Wednesdays | 6 p.m. | Beginning September 6
Thursdays | 9:30 a.m. | Beginning September 7
Cost: $20
The book of Isaiah has often been referred to as “the fifth gospel.” The prophet Isaiah has more to say about Israel’s coming Messiah than any other Old Testament book. Brilliant, courageous, uncompromising, this prophet declared that “the year of the LORD” had come and God’s people needed to either step up, or stand down. Indeed, when Isaiah spoke, kings trembled. But too often, when Isaiah speaks today, God’s people have trouble hearing. In this eight-week study, The Epic of Eden: Isaiah, Dr. Sandra Richter explains Israel’s religion, explores the definition and role of the prophets, and helps us to apply the message of this great champion of the faith to our lives today. Isaiah will be led by Jack Blakley on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. beginning September 6 and by Kathy Herriman on Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. beginning September 7.

Who were the disciples who followed Jesus? They weren’t saints, scholars, or religious sages. Twelve Ordinary Men is a study by John MacArthur, which allows participants to understand the hopes and doubts of the disciples and hear the power of Jesus’ words in a whole new way.  This Bible study, led by Janet Hailey, meets Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. beginning September 19.
